Chapter 2: Diverging Paths of Power

The scroll given to Tsunade, the so-called Elder Uchiha Shana, is merely his scheme. Tsunade is about seventy percent unlikely to meet him, as she is well aware of the consequences of this matter. Even if she does meet him, what does it matter whether this elder admits it or not? After all, the blame for Konoha's troubles is undoubtedly placed on the Uchiha clan. The evil Uchiha is not called that for nothing. As long as the information in this scroll comes to fruition, there will be problems. No one would suspect a kid who just graduated from the ninja academy a little over a year ago, since this matter is beyond his control.

“Kid!” Inside the tent, Tsunade's expression gradually softened, seemingly feeling a bit apologetic for her earlier anger. This is Tsunade’s character; her anger comes quickly and goes just as fast. Uchiha Yoru, however, maintained a determined expression. “Captain Tsunade, trust the village; this old thief is definitely still unrelenting!” At this moment, Uchiha Yoru was cursing his own clan’s elder, clearly just a kid completely brainwashed by the Will of Fire. Tsunade huffed in a proud manner. “You don’t need to say that, kid. In two days, Kakashi will come to the front line to take over here, and you will follow the team back to the village to rest for half a month.”

Currently, the battlefield in the Land of Rain has not completely erupted, so Konoha still has ample manpower. When Uchiha Yoru heard this, he was about to voice his opinion, but Tsunade immediately warned him in a serious tone: “You, kid, don’t forget my warning; the information on the scroll is top secret!” “Yes! Captain Tsunade!” The young Uchiha Yoru took a deep breath, revealing a determined expression. After Tsunade gestured, Uchiha Yoru respectfully returned the scroll and then exited.

Once Tsunade was alone in the tent, she frowned and stared at the contents of the scroll. “Is this old man not giving up? Or is it true?” The scroll contained only a simple piece of information, yet it shocked all Konoha ninjas. [The bloodline of the grandson of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, named Rope Tree, was assigned to Orochimaru’s team by the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, and a mission was arranged on the second day of his birthday...] Tsunade was not surprised by the first half of the information, as this was something any interested party could find out with a little investigation. But the problem lay in the latter half of the information! It explicitly pointed out that the mission had an ambush, and the target was Rope Tree! Although it didn’t specify whose ambush it was, the implication clearly pointed to the faction of the Third Hokage. This was the most important part!

“This old man!” Tsunade squinted her eyes; this information clearly indicated that the current Hokage upper echelons were not only wary of the Uchiha but also of the Senju clan. It even pointed out some dark schemes! Meanwhile, Uchiha Yoru, stepping out of the tent, donned a cloak with a somewhat displeased expression as the patter of rain continued to fall. The weather at the border of the Land of Rain was terrible. However, Uchiha Yoru's mouth slowly curled into a smile, a glint of joy flashing in his eyes. The Uchiha were weak; if they wanted the position of Hokage, they needed more friends. This information he had was completely accurate; Rope Tree was in the same class as him, and his birthday was on August 9. Based on the information from the original work, Tsunade was in the village on Rope Tree's birthday, which coincided perfectly with Tsunade's return.

More importantly! In the original work, on Rope Tree's twelfth birthday, Tsunade gifted him a necklace from the First Hokage, and the next day, he went out on a mission and died! It could be said to be quite sudden. A mission that could return to the village in just one day, under the protection of Konoha’s elite Jonin, Orochimaru, ended up with him dead just like that. If it weren’t for this information, Tsunade could naturally place the blame on Orochimaru, but what if she were to learn this information in advance? “Whether there is a conspiracy here is not important; what matters is that Tsunade knew in advance. Would anyone believe such a coincidence?” Uchiha Yoru sneered inwardly; he did not believe that the ambush was so precisely set, even laid out right outside the village. After all, this was during wartime! And the target that happened to die was the prince of the Senju clan.

“Yoru-kun.” Just then, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind. Uchiha Yoru turned around and saw the newcomer, unable to suppress a smile. “Captain Fugaku.” A few years older than him, but clearly looking a bit more mature, the special Jonin Uchiha Fugaku rarely showed a smile. “Yoru-kun, how many times have I told you? There’s no need to be so polite between us.” The two were evidently quite familiar; after all, Fugaku was reserved and mature, and throughout his life, he had been absolutely loyal to Konoha. Thus, facing the sunny and cheerful Uchiha Yoru, the two naturally got along well. As they chatted and laughed, they arrived at a small waterfall within the Konoha camp. It seemed that the Uchiha clan liked to discuss matters by the waterfall.

Seeing this scene, Uchiha Yoru shook his head inwardly; however, the sound of the waterfall allowed Uchiha Fugaku to let down his guard, and his already mature face showed a hint of fatigue. “Yoru-kun, how do you think our clan can gain the village's trust?” Goodness! Looking at the worry on Uchiha Fugaku's face, Uchiha Yoru was speechless; no wonder the Second Hokage said that the Uchiha clan was extreme. Currently, the elite Uchiha clan members were playing with fire on the battlefield in the Land of Rain, and instead of worrying about the war situation, their clansmen, or their own safety, they were instead fretting over the village! Indeed, the Uchiha were too extreme! Uchiha Yoru sighed deeply, pretending to wear a troubled expression as he shook his head and said, “Captain Fugaku, it’s not about how the clan gains the village's trust, but how the village trusts the Uchiha.”

Seeing Uchiha Fugaku's confused expression, Uchiha Yoru knew this man still had some hope. Or rather, Uchiha Fugaku's life showed that while he was loyal to both the clan and Konoha, he struggled to balance loyalty and filial piety! He was also a person without decisive thoughts, living in confusion all his life! If the clan got to that point, they just needed to choose one path! Choose the village, directly take action against the clan, and eliminate a large half of the rebellious elite. At that time, would a down-and-out Uchiha lead to the downfall of Konoha? At the very least, Konoha wouldn’t be in such a hurry to act.

“Captain Fugaku!” Uchiha Yoru showed a serious expression; he had to take advantage of the fact that Fugaku hadn’t yet dug himself into a dead end and quickly rescue this man who was in a state of confusion in life. This man was a rare fighting force! More importantly, he was the son of the clan leader, a force he needed to unite. Otherwise, just like in the original work, the Uchiha would end up as mere pawns, which wouldn’t do! Under his leadership, the Uchiha clan needed to learn to resist! To charge forward correctly! “In order to gain the village's trust, look at how many elites from our clan have come to the front lines; even you, the son of the clan leader, are here. You should know this is the Land of Rain, and the terrain is very unfavorable for us!”

At this moment, Uchiha Yoru had a determined expression, as if saying that the clan had nearly dug out their own hearts this time, all to gain the village's trust. Upon hearing this, Uchiha Fugaku rarely showed a smile and nodded, saying, “Indeed, this time the clan has truly sent out their best.” It is said that the Uchiha are evil, but in fact, from the First to the Third Great Ninja War, the Uchiha's battlefields were either the Land of Rain or the Land of Water; what hardships did they endure? Until the Kyuubi Incident, when they were monitored like criminals, they gradually developed a rebellious heart.

Looking at Uchiha Fugaku's smile, Uchiha Yoru’s next sentence, however, caused his expression to change dramatically. “By the way, Captain Fugaku, why have there been recent rumors in the village about White Fang and the Fourth Hokage? Isn’t the Third Hokage at his peak?” This sentence directly caused Uchiha Fugaku to change his expression drastically, revealing a serious look.
