Chapter 4: Blade and Saw

“Whoosh——”

The Chainsaw Devil and the Sword Devil lunged forward in a single step. The Sword Devil was as quick as lightning, appearing before the Catman brothers in the blink of an eye, crossing his arms to slash horizontally.

In a moment of panic, the Catman brothers instinctively reacted; the tall Butch crossed his claws in front of his chest while the smaller Sam jumped up reflexively.

“Clang——”

The cat claws and the long sword collided, sparks flying.

Butch held onto the long sword with all his might, a sizzling sound emanating from his hands.

“Now, Sam!”

Feeling the immense power of his opponent and realizing he couldn't hold out for more than a few seconds, he hurriedly shouted to his partner.

A flicker of intensity shone in Sam's eyes as he swiftly swung his blade, aiming for his opponent's throat.

However, someone was faster; the Sword Devil allowed Sam's attack to come, neither dodging nor evading, and while Sam restrained him, he was also being restrained.

“Zing—— Zing——”

Just behind the Sword Devil, the Chainsaw Devil suddenly emerged from below, the terrifying chainsaw slashing toward Butch's large body.

“Shh——”

“Ugh......”

Two massive splashes of blood erupted, and in an instant, Butch's chest was slashed open with two alarming gashes, causing him to loosen his grip.

The Sword Devil withdrew his sword, targeting Sam, who was clawing in mid-air.

“Clang——”

Sparks flew.

“Butch!!!”

Sam shouted in desperation, but there was no time for a final glance at his partner; the Sword Devil's arm, as if carrying immense weight, lifted him up.

Sam released his strength, using his powerful core to roll and leap behind the Sword Devil.

Before he hit the ground, he heard the piercing sound of the chainsaw behind him; the Chainsaw Devil had somehow caught up from behind. Sam suddenly turned around and reached out his hand.

Just as his cat claw glove was about to touch the chainsaw, the Chainsaw Devil suddenly changed tactics, turning around to slash horizontally with both chainsaws.

“Ah!!!”

A sharp scream rang out, and despite Sam instinctively sidestepping, his arm was brutally torn off by the high-speed rotating chainsaw.

Filled with terror, Sam had no time to counter the Chainsaw Devil in front of him before the Sword Devil rushed to his side.

“Wait!!” Sam shouted in panic.

Puff! Puff!

Ignoring his cries, the two long swords flashed coldly, slicing smoothly into Sam's body as if cutting tofu.

Sam looked down in shock, unable to believe that the sharp blades had pierced through him, blood pouring down uncontrollably onto the ground.

The scene fell into a suffocating silence.

Clang——!

The long swords were withdrawn, and Sam's body went limp, collapsing onto the deck.

In just a few breaths since the skirmish began, the Catman brothers lay dead in a pool of blood, the deck now a deep crimson, while the two demonic figures stood with their blades and chainsaws stained with blood.

“I told you, that laugh won't last long.”

Reiner's calm voice broke the silence.

He slowly walked towards Nami, looking down at the trembling girl sitting on the ground, her face filled with fear, and extended his hand, palm open.

“I! Pirate, robbery!”

“Okay... okay, it's all... all yours.”

“Please don’t kill me!”

Nami's voice trembled, her palm already soaked with sweat, clenching tightly onto a bag of treasure as she extended her hand.

The Catman brothers, with a bounty of seven million, had been killed in the blink of an eye by their opponents. Witnessing this horrifying scene, she no longer felt the urge to resist.

After extending her hand with the treasure and seeing that he did not take it, Nami let go, placing it on the ground and quickly retracting her arm to her chest.

“Oh dear, I’m not robbing money; I’m robbing people.”

Reiner chuckled, kicked a bag of treasure away from his feet, took a puff of smoke, and put the two undead blades away.

He withdrew his hand and sat cross-legged. “You said your name is Nami, right? Do you know navigation?”

“A little bit.”

Nami replied softly, relieved to see the two demonic figures mysteriously disappear, although she was still shocked.

Reiner became friendly, knowing full well that Nami could navigate. “We are pirates, preparing to go to the Grand Line. Why don’t you join us as our navigator?”

“I.......,” Nami hesitated, afraid to refuse, but thinking of Cocoa Village...

Her hometown was still under Arlong’s brutal rule, and she needed to save up a billion to buy the village from Arlong. If she left just like that, the villagers of Cocoa Village would never see the light of day again.

“What should I do? Maybe I should agree first and then find a chance to escape?” Nami’s thoughts surged, secretly contemplating:

“It should be possible; there are only a few of them. They can’t watch me all the time; I will definitely find a chance to escape.”

Nami weighed her options for a moment, about to voice her pretense of agreement when Reiner interrupted her.

“Are you secretly planning something?”

Reiner looked at the pensive Nami, resting his chin on his hand. “Pretending to agree first, then looking for an opportunity to escape? Or even thinking of tricking us?”

Nami's pupils constricted, showing a look of surprise.

Reiner understood Nami's little thoughts too well because...

He was that kind of person!

At this moment, Luffy and Zoro had also dealt with the Black Cat Pirates and brought Zangao back.

Reiner pointed at Nami and shouted to them, “Hey Luffy, navigator, I found her!”

“Eh? Really?!”

Luffy looked at Nami, his eyes shining with excitement. “Hello, I’m Luffy.”

“Y-yeah, hello,” Nami replied, feeling like a frightened little lamb, having just witnessed the fighting prowess displayed by Luffy and Zoro.

Among the three, Reiner seemed the least strong, but he appeared to command two terrifying devils.

Now that the three of them were present, she had no ability to resist whatsoever; Nami felt that today was exceptionally unlucky.

“By the way, Reiner,”

Luffy seemed to remember something, lifting Zangao, who was bruised and battered. “This guy seems to be going to Sirop Village too; he said he has some secrets to tell us.”

A grinning Zangao, with a battered face, was looking at the group. Reiner recalled that this guy could use hypnosis.

Three years ago, he had hypnotized Monka, making him think he had captured Captain Kuro, which allowed Monka to rise to the rank of captain, while Kuro used this opportunity to hide in Sirop Village and plotted for three years against the Koya family's wealth.

“If you let me go, I guarantee you’ll get a generous reward.”

Zangao rubbed his hands, grinning at the group.

“Let’s hear it,” Reiner thought he knew what secret he was talking about; it was nothing but Kuro’s business.

Then Zangao revealed Kuro’s plan under the group’s unkind gaze.

It turned out Kuro wanted to use Zangao’s hypnosis ability to make Koya write a will leaving all her property to Kuro and then kill her.

“In summary, you can cooperate with Captain Kuro to divide Koya’s property, or report Kuro to the Navy to stop him. I believe the Koya family will also offer a good reward.”

Zangao had a sneaky expression, even starting to offer them suggestions.

His words only fueled Luffy’s anger.

Bang!

“That bastard! How could he do something so despicable?!” Luffy said, knocking Zangao unconscious with a punch, his fist raised in indignation.

Reiner had no interest in Kuro’s schemes; he was just tempted by Kuro’s body, and regardless of whether this was the case, he had to find Kuro.

Moreover, the Koya family had a ship, which would serve as their first pirate ship, along with Usopp, the man who commanded hopeless situations in ancient Greece.

There was still a day’s journey to Sirop Village, a side quest full of benefits, and he could hardly wait to go and grind Kuro for gold coins...
