Chapter 5: Village of Xilobu

The next day, it was a sunny morning with clear skies.

Their group temporarily joined Nami, and the four of them finally arrived at Syrup Village.

As for Zango... he was feeding the fish in the sea; if he survived, it was just that his life was meant to go on.

The island where Syrup Village is located has a unique topography, surrounded by cliffs on all sides by the sea.

There is only one port on the eastern side of the island, as a long slope leads directly into the island.

The group docked and disembarked, with Luffy eagerly rushing up the slope first.

Reiner tied the ship's rope to a wooden post on the shore and followed after securing it.

“Seriously, I can’t stand this captain.”

Nami watched Luffy, who was impatiently acting on his own, feeling somewhat helpless.

Even though she was quite scared by the two demons summoned by Reiner yesterday, she gradually changed her view of the group afterwards.

In fact, their intervention to save her had left her with a good impression.

Plus, after hearing the secret Zango mentioned, Luffy’s reaction was even more unbelievable to Nami.

He had been shouting all day about wanting to beat Crocodile.

Are there really pirates who stand up for what’s right these days?

The pirates she had encountered since childhood were the Arlong gang, and their brutality had led her to despise pirates intensely.

To buy Cocoa Village from Arlong, Nami started stealing, but she only targeted pirates.

In her view, pirate money was all ill-gotten gains; even though she never claimed to be a good person, she felt justified in stealing from pirates.

She still didn’t plan to become a pirate, but for now, she could accept following this group.

“Stop!”

A shout caught the group’s attention.

A long-nosed man with an afro jumped out from the side, blocking their way, with bronzed skin and a pouch tied around his waist.

Reiner recognized the person at a glance.

Usopp, a man who constantly navigates between bravery and cowardice.

Speaking of which, Reiner actually admired Usopp; compared to Zoro's unrealistically perfect image, Usopp resembled an everyman.

However, this timid and cowardly person could always confront his inner fears at crucial moments, stepping up and fighting for his friends with a determination to die for them.

He made the miracle of courage bloom in this inconspicuous little character.

It seemed the weak trio could be formed ahead of time, Reiner couldn’t help but think.

As for who the third person was besides Nami and Usopp...

Yes, it’s definitely him!

He is just logistics personnel.

What does his strength matter?

Moreover, he currently only has two capable spirits, a sword demon modeled after Zoro and a chainsaw demon modeled after Luffy.

Although Luffy doesn’t use the Three-Sword Style, his fighting talent is excellent, and he is agile, making his fighting moves unpredictable.

Combined with those three menacing chainsaws, just looking at them is painful; once they engage, anyone would feel intimidated.

Pulling back his thoughts, Reiner slowly followed behind.

“How did you know I’m Jesus' son?”

“Hahaha, you guys look so alike! At first glance, I thought Jesus was here!”

Usopp and Luffy at the front began to communicate, and Luffy immediately recognized him; after all, the two did look quite similar, especially with that afro and thick lips.

“You know my dad!?”

Usopp was both surprised and delighted, quickly chasing after Luffy to inquire about Jesus.

“He should still be on Shanks' ship.”

“You mean Red-Haired Shanks?”

“How do you know?”

“Nani!? That’s a great pirate!”

“Eh, really?” Luffy scratched his head and smiled.

“Our captain never pays attention to the news.”

Reiner found Luffy speechless; he clearly admired Shanks the most but had never sought information about him.

As they chatted and walked, Luffy kept introducing Jesus to Usopp.

When Luffy was young, Red-Haired Shanks stayed in Windmill Village, and Luffy often heard Laki and Jesus bragging.

Unexpectedly, today he repeated the tales of Jesus to his son.

Soon, the five arrived in the village and randomly found a restaurant to enter.

“You seem to admire Jesus a lot?”

“Of course.”

Usopp stood on a chair, stepping onto the table with one foot, and said boldly, “My dream is to become a brave warrior of the sea like him!”

“Sounds great! Then come be our partner!”

Luffy flashed a big smile, showing his white teeth, inviting Usopp.

“In that case, I can be your captain.”

“No thanks...” ×4, the others lowered their heads and continued to eat silently.

“Hey, wait a minute! Don’t refuse so decisively; think about it some more,” Usopp tried to protest.

“By the way, we’re looking for a ship.”

Reiner put down his utensils and proactively mentioned, “Usopp, do you know where we can find one?”

“...A ship?”

Usopp rubbed his chin and thought for a moment. “There’s probably only one place here that has a ship.”

“Eh! That’s great, Usopp, take us there!” Luffy exclaimed, raising his head excitedly.

Suddenly, Usopp remembered something and quickly changed his tone, “No, no, you can’t go there.”

The group was somewhat surprised, and then, through Usopp’s explanation, they learned about the mansion in the village and the past of the mansion's mistress, Kaya.

“Wait a minute, Usopp’s Kaya, isn’t that what Zango mentioned yesterday, Crocodile’s conspiracy?”

Reiner had known about this matter for a while, and besides him, Nami was the first to realize.

He planned to confront Usopp directly and then expose Crocodile violently with the others.

“Zango? Do you guys know Kaya and Crocodile?”

Usopp was somewhat confused; he only mentioned Kaya, so how did they know about Crocodile?

Reiner slowly explained to him about their encounter with the Black Cat Pirates yesterday and how they learned about Crocodile's conspiracy from Zango.

“Hey! You guys aren’t pulling my leg, are you?”

Usopp found it hard to believe, slamming his hands on the table. “You’re not lying just to get a ship, are you?”

Reiner directly took out the bounty notice he got from Zango and handed it to Usopp to look at.

It was Crocodile’s bounty information from three years ago; it was likely that only Zango and his group had it now.

After all, Crocodile had been captured publicly, and the Black Cat Pirates had rarely appeared in public.

“This... this is!” Usopp showed a panicked expression.

He recognized Crocodile at a glance; after all, he often sneaked into Kaya’s estate to meet her, and each time he was chased away by Crocodile.

“Damn it!” Usopp stuffed the bounty notice into his pouch and turned to rush out the door.

He needed to quickly tell Kaya about this; a pirate with a bounty of 16 million Berries had been hiding beside Kaya for three years!

“Wait for me! I also want to go beat that bastard!”

Luffy sprang up hurriedly, taking the food from the table all at once.

Reiner and the others followed suit; they couldn’t underestimate Crocodile; his 'Sickle Death' speed was currently unmatched by anyone among them.

This was also the reason Reiner coveted Crocodile; such a high burst speed for ambushes was simply...

—So cool!
