Chapter 3: The Witch in the Castle's Welcome Gift

Ian Prince.

This is Ian's name in this life.

In fact,

he doesn’t even know how long he has been reincarnated.

Unlike many who close their eyes and open them to find themselves in another world, he did not immediately reincarnate into another world after his accidental death as a college student in his previous life.

His consciousness went through a period where he struggled to piece together complete memories, filled with vague and muddled years; it felt as if he was always flying, traversing many places and witnessing countless things he couldn’t remember.

Now, reflecting back,

Ian still doesn’t understand why he had such experiences; it wasn’t as if he was searching for a lost sheep; rather, it seemed more like aimless wandering without a destination.

Until the appearance of a light.

He flew towards the light.

Only then did he open his eyes again to see a familiar yet strange world.

As a traveler, Ian possesses the typical advantages that come with being one; besides an attribute panel, the ability to cross the boundary between life and death seems to have become his unique talent.

Every week, in his dreams, Ian visits this peculiar place, which the simple little girl in front of him refers to as the Dreamlike Realm.

Yes, the Dreamlike Realm, the land of the deceased in the Harry Potter world. Some say it’s a transit point to the underworld, while others say it’s the path to the afterlife... From Ian’s previous understanding of Harry Potter, he knows that Dumbledore appeared at a train station in the Dreamlike Realm after his death.

He speculates that the reason he can come here is probably related to his rebirth and the wisdom of two lives; perhaps it’s tied to a bug in this world?

Forgive him for having only watched a few movies and read fanfiction, and not brushing up on more relevant knowledge; had he known he would reincarnate, he surely would have become a Harry Potter scholar in his previous life.

Of course,

perhaps even a Harry Potter scholar

would not have much understanding of this place; otherwise, the Dreamlike Realm wouldn’t be one of the most mysterious areas on the original map.

"You look a bit shaken."

The girl in front of him is a ghost who doesn’t even know how long she has been dead. However, despite this, Ariana still retains her innocence and some childishness from before she died.

She is also one of the few friends Ian has in this place.

Regarding the Dreamlike Realm,

Ian has always thought of it as a treasure trove. The magical awakening of little wizards generally starts at level one of magic control, but the reason he has level four magic is that he has studied here.

Of course,

it’s not because of the girl in front of him, as Ariana is just an ordinary person who doesn’t understand magic; Ian learned magic control through another friend.

However,

the other person always refuses to teach him real magic, constantly emphasizing that he is too young or something like that.

"A terrifying old man! It’s because of a terrifying old man!"

Ian emphasized with certainty.

"Why do you say he is terrifying? Does he look scary?"

Ariana asked curiously.

As they strolled along, Ian shook his head and explained,

"No, he doesn’t look scary; on the contrary, he’s quite an elegant old man. It’s just that this old man is a peeping tom; well, at least that’s what I heard."

"Aren’t you curious about why he came looking for me, Ariana?"

The two of them reached a riverbank, where several colorful butterflies danced around them, and a little rabbit peeked out from under a tree, watching their backs.

Sunlight poured down, and the scenery was gentle.

"What did he come looking for you for? Does he want to peep at you while you bathe?"

The girl’s words left Ian momentarily speechless.

"He came to let me attend Hogwarts, Ariana! I really am a registered wizard!" Ian boasted, looking at the flowing river with pride.

He wasn’t very old in his previous life; although he had drifted for a long time, he was muddled... To sum it up, he was just a slightly better old ghost than Ariana.

Otherwise, how could the two of them be friends?

There must be some similarities, right?

"Hogwarts? I know, I remember Hogwarts! That’s the best wizarding school in the world! And it’s the safest place in the world too!"

Ariana looked at Ian with surprise.

"Ian, if you run into trouble at Hogwarts, you can ask my two brothers for help. They are students at Hogwarts and very kind-hearted people."

It was clear that she was quite enthusiastic.

However,

"I will definitely run into trouble."

Ian dipped his legs into the river and lay down on the grass, slowly speaking with some helplessness, "Your brothers are students; how powerful can they be? This year, or next year, our school will probably face the no-nose monster; that thing is not something ordinary people can handle."

Ian was also somewhat worried about Voldemort.

He could avoid any intersection with the savior, but who knows whether he would become collateral damage while studying at school? Who would believe that Hogwarts is really the safest place?

"The no-nose monster?"

Ariana tilted her head in confusion.

"Yeah, it’s a big bad guy that is about to be revived."

Perhaps because this place is disconnected from reality, or because the person in front of him is a friend he has known since childhood, Ian did not hide the fact that he "knows what will happen in the future."

He has previously revealed many similar prophetic messages.

But Ariana has never shown curiosity.

"Is the no-nose monster very powerful? Ian, my two brothers are very strong."

Ariana said seriously.

Ian sat up, curious, and asked, "Are your two brothers twins?"

When it comes to twins, Ian immediately thought of the Weasley family, but seeing that Ariana’s hair color was off, and he had never heard of any Weasley family sister who had passed away.

Is it from another magical family?

The 28 pure-blooded families?

He couldn’t figure it out... Ian scratched his head and asked again, "You really can’t remember your surname?"

Ariana shook her head, her expression a bit forlorn.

Ian blinked: "Then how can I find your brothers for help?"

"My brothers..."

Ariana fell into a memory, but she couldn’t recall any information about her brothers; she only remembered that she had two brothers who loved her very much, and she was waiting for them here.

"It seems I am about to completely forget my obsessions and past."

Ariana’s eyes were sad as she supported her face with her hands, gazing at the flowing river.

Ian hurriedly comforted her, a bit at a loss: "In the Dreamlike Realm, souls linger due to obsessions. When your obsessions disappear or you forget everything, that will be the moment to enter the afterlife."

"That’s not a bad thing."

Ian looked at Ariana with clear eyes, only to see her eyes suddenly reddening.

"But my brothers..."

Ariana said, a bit choked up.

This...

Ian didn’t know how to comfort her and could only take out the chocolate he had prepared long ago, saying, "You got lucky; I was planning to save it for myself."

He had bought the chocolate in advance and hidden it in his pocket; of course, it wasn’t forgotten.

"Chocolate... Ian, you’re so nice!"

Seeing the chocolate, Ariana was indeed less sad and immediately broke into a smile. After biting into the chocolate, she couldn’t help but say, "Actually, I really want to see my brothers one more time."

Ian scratched his head, looking at the girl’s profile, and said,

"Then I’ll go back and inquire about whose sister has died; maybe when I tell you, you’ll remember and can stay here for a few more years."

"People will die; just hang in there, and they’ll eventually die. When they do, you’ll be able to see them here," Ian said seriously to Ariana.

Ariana was pleasantly surprised and gratefully said, "Thank you for your comfort, Ian, but you can’t go kill them just for my reunion with my brothers, okay?"

Wow!

Are you providing me with new ideas?

Ian: "......"

He really didn’t know how to roll his eyes at this.

"What do you take me for, some evil monster?"

Ian looked innocent.

"The witch living in the castle said you have such qualities."

Seeing Ian’s speechlessness, Ariana couldn’t help but laugh.

The witch in the castle?

Ian felt a sense of familiarity as he looked back at the castle hidden in the forest; he had heard some rumors about it.

However, the Dreamlike Realm is vast, and with his abilities, he still couldn’t explore too much of the area.

Just then, a cool sensation came from his palm.

Ian turned around and saw Ariana holding his hand with a smiling expression, saying, "Ian, thank you for your kindness; this is also a congratulations for your enrollment..."

"I want to give you a gift."

As she spoke, Ian quickly felt a warmth coming from her hand. He looked down and saw a bright red hue flowing from Ariana’s hand into his own.

A delicate pattern appeared on the back of his hand but quickly faded away.

"What is this?"

Just as Ian's words left his mouth, the surroundings began to become surreal, and the person in front of him started to blur.

He knew.

He was about to leave, and he made no move to resist.

"See you next week."

Ian smiled and waved goodbye.

Ariana smiled and waved back.

"See you next week."
