Chapter 9: Surprised Obito

While taking the exam, Obito heard the conversation between the two and couldn't help but look up, stunned. He recognized Shisui. The Uchiha clan lived together on the land designated for them in Konoha, so members of the same generation knew a little about each other. After all, they were all part of the same family; even if they hadn’t met, they had heard of each other. A genius like Shisui often came up in conversations among the elders of other families, making it hard not to know him.

Obito felt somewhat puzzled, wondering why Shisui was here and why he seemed to be familiar with Mugetsu. "Could it be that Teacher Yuhang is a distant relative of Shisui?" Obito had an unreliable guess in his mind.

“Teacher, I’m done!” Just as Obito was lost in thought, Might Guy suddenly shouted loudly beside him.

“So fast?” Obito was dumbfounded; he remembered not having stopped for long, yet suddenly Might Guy claimed to be finished. Curious, Obito leaned over to take a look and saw that Might Guy had only answered the first three multiple-choice questions, leaving the rest blank.

For a moment, Obito didn’t know what to say, as there were only ten questions on the entire exam: four multiple-choice and six open-ended. Although he didn’t know many answers either, he chose to fill in the test paper a bit more, so it looked nicer.

After hearing Might Guy’s words, Mugetsu walked over to help him check his answers. He got two wrong, only answering the first question correctly.

“Sorry, Teacher, I…” Might Guy looked at the three questions he had answered, realizing he got two wrong, and was momentarily at a loss for words.

“It’s okay; it’s normal not to know. If you knew everything, there would be no need for me to teach you,” Mugetsu said with a reassuring smile.

“Don’t feel bad about your low score. You can think of it from a different angle; there’s a lot of room for improvement. After all, it’s definitely easier to go from five points to twenty-five points than from eighty to a hundred.”

Upon hearing Mugetsu’s words, Might Guy felt a surge of determination. Being considered the bottom of the class and left to fend for himself, he received encouragement for the first time from someone other than his father.

“Teacher, you’re right! I have a lot of room for improvement!” Might Guy’s spirit instantly soared.

Next, he listened intently to Mugetsu’s explanation, even though it was difficult to understand; he made an effort to comprehend.

Then it was Obito’s turn. He filled in six questions but only got two correct. Mugetsu treated him the same way as Might Guy, first comforting him and then explaining the questions.

After finishing, Mugetsu took out two more test papers of the same type and handed them to the two.

“Still more to do,” Obito said, unable to take his eyes off Shisui, who had begun practicing Fire Release techniques.

“Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!” Shisui quickly formed the hand seals and instantly spat out a two-meter-high fireball that flew toward the river.

Watching that huge fireball, Obito felt great admiration and thought to himself, as expected of a renowned genius in the clan. As a Uchiha, he could also perform the Great Fireball Technique. However, in terms of size and power, his Great Fireball could only be considered a small fireball compared to Shisui’s.

“Is he another genius like Kakashi?”

Although Might Guy didn’t know Shisui, seeing his form and appearance, he looked to be only six or seven years old, yet he could use such a powerful technique, which truly surprised him. This reminded Might Guy of Kakashi, whom he had deemed his rival.

The ninja school operated on a three-semester system: the first semester ran from April to July, followed by summer vacation; the second semester went from September to December, followed by winter vacation. The third semester began after winter vacation.

Kakashi hadn’t even finished the second semester before applying for early graduation and passing, showcasing his level of genius. At that moment, Shisui gave Might Guy the impression of being Kakashi’s age.

Next, Shisui began practicing the Great Fire Dragon Technique. Watching Shisui perform another Fire Release technique, Might Guy was even more amazed because he had struggled for three years with the transformation technique taught in school.

As he watched Shisui control the fire dragon dancing in the sky, Obito felt envious; if only he could do that, Lin would definitely look at him differently.

“It’s clear that you’ve made significant progress in the transformation aspect compared to the first time. The fire dragon’s speed is faster; you must have practiced a lot since yesterday,” Mugetsu commented with praise.

“It’s mainly thanks to your training manual, Teacher Mugetsu, which has helped me a lot,” Shisui said with a smile upon hearing Mugetsu’s praise.

“Let me demonstrate it for you again.”

Mugetsu stepped in front of Shisui, clapped his hands, gathered and compressed chakra within him, and instantly opened his mouth to unleash three gigantic fire dragons.

Obito was somewhat dumbfounded as he watched the three enormous fire dragons, fiercely burning and looking incredibly menacing. Just a moment ago, he thought Shisui’s Great Fire Dragon technique was impressive, but after seeing Mugetsu’s, his perspective changed.

The two weren’t performing the same technique; the fire dragons released by Shisui and Mugetsu were like the difference between a snake and a loach, and why was the speed so fast? It felt as if no hand seals were made at all.

The three massive fire dragons flew swiftly through the sky, leaving trails of flames and ultimately forming several large characters in the air.

“Stop looking and hurry up with the questions,” Obito read out the characters in the sky, only to find Mugetsu looking at him with a playful smile.

Obito jumped in surprise and then explained, “I was just tired and looking at the sky for a bit.”

Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Might Guy, who had instantly picked up his pen and started answering questions, reacting very quickly.

“Have you seen enough now?” Mugetsu asked.

“I’ve seen enough, I’ve seen enough,” Obito quickly grabbed his pen and began working on the problems.

After doing some questions, Obito couldn’t help but stop and ask, “Teacher Yuhang, what is your relationship with Shisui?”

“The relationship between teacher and disciple; what do you think it is?” Mugetsu replied, glancing at Might Guy’s test paper.

“Hehe, I also think it’s like a teacher-student relationship,” Obito didn’t mention his initial unreliable guess.

“Teacher Yuhang, if I pass the exam, can you teach me that technique you just used?” Obito continued to ask.

He had already started imagining how he would show off his new technique to Lin, in other words, preparing to pop the champagne.

“Of course,” Mugetsu nodded.

“Really?” Obito’s face lit up with surprise.

“Really.”

“What physical techniques do you master, Teacher Yuhang?” Might Guy looked at Mugetsu with anticipation.

Although he also thought Mugetsu was cool when unleashing the Great Fire Dragon Technique, Might Guy was clear about his goals—he only practiced physical techniques!

Mugetsu didn’t speak but walked up to a large tree, gathered chakra in his feet, tensed his muscles, and then kicked out a whirlwind leg at high speed.

With a loud crash, the tree fell quickly, stirring up a cloud of dust.

“Do you like this physical technique?” Mugetsu asked, smiling at Might Guy as he brushed off the dust from his foot.
