Chapter 8: I Want to Be the Worst Villain!

Aside from her hair, the girl was covered in snow-white fur all over her body, and on top of her head were a pair of cat ears. It was clear that she was a cat fur slave from the fur tribe. The fur tribe is a race that lives on the back of the great elephant, Zow, commonly referred to as beastmen, and they are extremely rare in the outside world. However, to the Celestial Dragons, they are akin to even rarer collectibles.

Her fur appeared neat, but beneath it lay a multitude of scars. The moment she sensed someone approaching, her fur stood on end, just like a frightened cat—this was one of the characteristics of the fur tribe, which has habits similar to their animal lineage. When she saw that it was Auran coming over, her bristling fur began to settle down a bit, perhaps because Auran had treated her wounds, leading her subconscious to believe that she could trust him.

"Is there a problem, Kate? These are dried fish; you should be able to eat them, right?" The fur tribe does not eat meat from furry mammals; this is a matter of racial nature. Although Shak, who is a shark merman, had no qualms about eating fish, Kate was different. Forcing her to eat furry mammals was akin to forcing a human to eat another human. This was also the source of her whip scars, as the Celestial Dragons wanted to see her eat food she did not wish to consume. However, even when beaten and bloodied, she refused to take a bite, ultimately leading the disinterested Celestial Dragons to place her on the cleanup list, making her one of the prey.

In the eyes of the Celestial Dragons, cat fur and house cats were no different; a disobedient cat should simply be killed. "Are you familiar with the fur tribe?" "A little, I guess. If you feel there's anything offensive, you can just say it." Auran indeed remembered some things about the fur tribe, but he thought that a cat wouldn’t usually refuse fish. "No, it's just that I feel you are very different from those humans."

In the fur tribe's view, humans are also members of the fur tribe, classified as hairless monkey furs. Kate used to think so too until her family left Zow a year ago and encountered the Celestial Dragons' slave capture team, which dealt her a harsh blow of reality. The back of Zow was relatively safe, but Kate had a congenital heart issue that the medical conditions on Zow could not remedy, which is why her family had to go out in search of a doctor. Unfortunately...

Not long ago, her father found an opportunity on a full moon night to try and escape with his wife and daughter. Under the full moon, the fur tribe could unleash their ability known as the Moon Lion, gaining extraordinary strength when frenzied. Sadly, he failed, ultimately losing control and dying in battle. Shortly after that, her mother could not bear the blow and chose to take her own life. Yet Kate stubbornly held on; there was also a bit of luck involved. During that time, the Celestial Dragons were looking for an obedient cat, which kept her from starving to death.

However, Kate harbored thoughts of revenge; she could not forget the ugly smile of the Celestial Dragons. Although she was the same age as Ginny, her heart was not so cheerful. After all, Ginny had been sold into slavery since she could remember and had no impression of her parents, while Kate once had a happy family. "I acknowledge the diversity of humanity; all kinds of people exist. If you’re unlucky, the evil of humanity can leave you battered and bruised. But I want to correct you on one point: I do not recognize the Celestial Dragons as human."

"What do you think, are we humans, cats, or monsters?" When she said this, Kate maintained a slightly hunched posture, an instinct of the feline within her, protecting her soft belly in a dangerous environment. It was clear that she had not let her guard down, yet deep in her eyes, there seemed to be a hint of expectation. Auran had seen this kind of gaze many times; he had funded an orphanage in Piltover to take care of war orphans and the unfortunate from across the Rune Continent. This could cultivate some talent, which was Auran's investment, though it was mostly a loss.

Some thought he was just putting on a show, but Auran did not care about such views. In Valoran, he had the means to do what he wanted without affecting himself; he never minded extending goodwill. When he first came to this city-state, Auran survived by relying on the kindness of others, and this was his way of giving back. "If you want me to analyze it from a scientific perspective, I would classify the fur tribe as subhumans, a branch of humanity, just as you classify humans as hairless monkey furs.

But from a practical standpoint, Kate, you must understand that the body is merely a shell; the soul and consciousness are fundamental. Therefore, under the same appearance, humanity is diverse. Putting aside the exterior, we are equal, but everyone has different talents and abilities; we are all the same." Cats are the definition the Celestial Dragons gave her, while monsters are the definition from others who are also slaves. The Moon Lion is a skill that requires training to master for the fur tribe; her father had not mastered this ability, and using it forcefully resulted in losing control.

Fear originates from the unknown; because people do not understand that power, they grew fearful of Kate. They worried that the Celestial Dragons might vent their anger on them because of her and also feared that she might suddenly go mad. The environment can change people, and the life of a slave can lead to a breakdown in a short time. After a year of enormous setbacks in life, she had become somewhat radicalized. She escaped alone like a bear, although the bear simply ran away with chains.

She, however, took advantage of the night to twist her left thumb, broke free of her handcuffs, killed a guard, and ran out. The bandages and wooden splint on her hands were made by Auran. "Star Soul, I think you are a good person, a different kind of human. Unfortunately, good people never live long..." "It’s bad luck to say such gloomy things at this time, but that title... how do you understand the grammar?" Auran noticed that the people he recently encountered particularly liked to label themselves as good people; the bear was like this, Shak was like this, and now Kate was the same. The term Kate used also intrigued him.

"Sidereal Auran, isn't your name spelled this way? My dad liked to study the stars, so I heard him say the spelling of some words... He was also a good person, so he died... Mom did too... But you don't need to worry. Dad and Mom said that when you receive kindness, you must repay it. In any case, I won’t live long. The full moon is in three days; if you’re not as unlucky as other good people, I should be able to save you once, but after that, you’ll have to rely on yourself. If you escape alive, replace me..."

Kate was not as taciturn as the bear described; her previous questions to Auran seemed to seek a conclusion. She was acutely aware of her physical condition; her heart issue hardly left her time to prepare for revenge. The fur tribe also had a tradition of not being indebted to others, and that answer which she recognized prompted her to make this decision. This tribe was a naturally combat-oriented race; as long as she had the Moon Lion's enhancement, she believed she could attempt to seek revenge or protect others, searching for her family after shining her last glory.

Seeing that Kate was not very old yet was here pretending to be an adult, solemnly wanting to convey her last words, Auran directly picked up some dried fish and stuffed it into her mouth. "Hold on a second; you might have misunderstood something. I have many professions, including alchemist, and there’s a basic principle in this field, which is also my life principle—equivalent exchange. Life is the most valuable thing; the only thing that can exchange for life is life. Your abilities and talents are very important and will be crucial in our escape. Just trust my arrangements, and I guarantee I will bring you out alive. I will tell you how a 'good person' should act."

After discovering Kate, this rare member of the fur tribe, Auran slightly adjusted his original plan. This tribe's innate ability would be very useful to him. "Cough, cough... I don't want to be a good person! Good people are always bullied, while bad guys can get away with everything. If I can survive, I want to be the worst villain in the world!" After taking out the dried fish, Kate seemed somewhat tempted but still suppressed her appetite, then declared her "dream." "So, you want to be the world's number one villain?" "Um... you could say that." "Then what will you do?" "I want to kill all the bad guys! That way, I'll be the worst!"
