Chapter 6: Naruto is True Love, Sakura is Just an Exception

As time passed, the exam was about to begin. When the test papers were handed out, Liu Sheng started answering the questions while silently complaining to himself. This world is truly messed up! In terms of technology, there are already electric lights and refrigerators, and scientists have even developed computers, yet the nobles still rely on horse-drawn carriages for transportation. The television is also a chakra television, a tool used by the Five Kage for remote communication. Even more outrageous is that children in this world not only understand love at just a few years old, but they also study subjects like chemistry in ninja school. Yes, the cultural classes in ninja school include not only history but also chemistry. Liu Sheng was stunned when he first saw these textbooks. No wonder during the war, those prodigies went to the battlefield at the age of five or six, and Kakashi became a versatile Jonin at just twelve. This is simply because this world is far too pathological; if you're not a genius or a loser, you truly feel helpless. Fortunately, Liu Sheng is also one of the losers. With the help of shadow clones and his mature thinking, Liu Sheng consistently scores full marks in his cultural classes. These questions pose no difficulty for him at all. The entire morning, the ninja school was unusually quiet, only becoming noisy during break time. As school was about to end, parents gradually appeared at the school gate. When the bell rang, the students finishing the exam rushed out of the school. Some students searched for familiar figures in the crowd, then either rushed into their arms or ran in front of them, eventually leaving hand in hand. Others excitedly dashed home. But there were also some students who looked enviously at this scene. They were orphans who had lost their relatives in the Nine-Tails incident or who didn’t even know who their parents were. Naruto was one of those who envied them; he was even hiding in the school, afraid to come out. Whenever he appeared in crowded places, those hateful and disgusted gazes made him feel suffocated and unable to breathe. He could not understand why these people treated him this way. Or rather… what exactly did he do wrong that made everyone treat him like this? Only Liu Sheng and Iruka among the school knew the reason. But he wouldn't tell Naruto; to be precise, he was afraid to. Liu Sheng was very warm to everyone, even with a sense of purpose before awakening his special ability. However, the only two people he didn't feel warm towards were Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke. Their identities were too special; being too close to them wasn’t a good thing. If he became too enthusiastic, it might draw the attention of some big shots. Even though he had awakened his special ability now, Liu Sheng still didn’t get close to them. After saying goodbye to Ino and Sakura, Liu Sheng returned home, dealt with lunch, then dispelled the shadow clone he had maintained all morning, set the alarm, and took a nap. In the afternoon, the exam continued. Just like the previous test, the first subject was shuriken throwing. This subject was the only one that posed a bit of difficulty for Liu Sheng. Of course, that was the case for the old Liu Sheng. The current Liu Sheng could accurately hit all the targets now. After all, he was someone who could cheat with shadow clones. Without a doubt, Liu Sheng scored full marks. However, many classmates from ninja families also achieved full marks just like him. These classmates had parents who were ninjas and often received special training at home. Unlike the dull cultural classes, they were very interested in this flashy stuff. In a past life, they would be considered students who had a strong bias towards certain subjects. Naruto was also a severely biased student. His scores in cultural classes were pitifully low; if cultural classes didn’t provide an alternative path and if the graduation assessment didn’t choose cultural classes as exam subjects, Naruto would probably never graduate in this lifetime. After the shuriken throwing, the next competition was still a taijutsu duel, just like the previous test. The students formed a circle, either standing or sitting, watching Iruka in the open space. “When I call your name, come out. First group… Inuzuka Kiba vs. Koike Yuta.” As Iruka’s voice rang out, Inuzuka Kiba, who had Akamaru by his side, immediately put his ninja dog down and excitedly stepped forward. In contrast, the guy named Koike Yuta looked somewhat fearful. Clearly, he lacked confidence in his fighting abilities. The result was predictable; Koike Yuta was easily defeated by Inuzuka Kiba, who had played with ninja dogs since childhood and was very skilled in combat. One by one, names continued to be called out by Iruka. There were both boys and girls, but interestingly, the taijutsu duels were either boy vs. boy or girl vs. girl. It was evident that Iruka had deliberately arranged it this way. These first-grade exams were still too much like child’s play. In Liu Sheng’s eyes, they were no different from playing house. However, Liu Sheng did not do as Uchiha Itachi did and only send a shadow clone to school. Because shadow clones lacked the ‘specialty’ of his true self. After all, who knew if Iruka would suddenly have a surprise test, causing Liu Sheng to lose the chance to score big rewards? Over the past six months, Liu Sheng had fought with his classmates more than once, winning each time. However, he had not seen that familiar glow with each victory. Obviously, the special ability didn't yield rewards every time he defeated an opponent, and the drop rate was very low. Naruto's experience was purely a stroke of luck. Perhaps that very time had drained Liu Sheng's luck. “Seventh group… Liu Sheng vs. Uchiha Sasuke.” After another group finished, Liu Sheng finally heard his name. When he heard his opponent's name, his eyes lit up, and he was filled with joy. After half a year, he finally matched up against the second male lead; it seemed that Iruka arranged opponents based on previous test scores. So, Liu Sheng stood up with high hopes. Similarly, Uchiha Sasuke was surrounded by a cheering group. “Liu Sheng, go for it! You must win!” “Liu Sheng, help me beat that Sasuke guy!” “…” “Sasuke, go for it! Sasuke will definitely win!” “Who should I support? Both Sasuke and Liu Sheng are so cute!” “…” The duel between the two popular figures in class instantly made the atmosphere lively. Male classmates who were closer to Liu Sheng or disliked Uchiha Sasuke's cool facade cheered him on. Meanwhile, the girls either cheered for Liu Sheng or for Uchiha Sasuke, or had conflicted expressions, unsure of whom to support. The loudest cheer naturally came from Ino, who cupped her hands to make a megaphone. The gentle Sakura and shy Hinata quietly cheered for Liu Sheng in their hearts. Watching the super popular Liu Sheng and Uchiha Sasuke, Naruto felt a pang of jealousy. However, he didn’t dislike Liu Sheng because, being sensitive, he noticed that Liu Sheng was one of the few people in class who didn’t hate him. As for disliking Uchiha Sasuke, it might be due to fate, as Sakura did not end up liking Sasuke as in the original story. Interestingly, Naruto also never developed feelings for Sakura and had never pursued her. Indeed, Naruto and Sasuke were true love; Sakura was merely an exception.
